Development of practice site made in Adobe Illustrator.

Development:
My main concept for my portfolio site was to have a layout similar to Pinterest. I mentioned in my research (and mood board) that I liked the tile layout where the images have the same width but display their full height. I placed some of my work and chose a very bright background colour (I realise this is a very over powering colour that I need to experiment with more) I have also taken the style of navigation bar as the Art Institute of Chicago's site as it allows me to use the slim horizontal space available.

This shows my basic idea for how my portfolio page could look. I took this large image size layout from the Teacake site as it allows the image to be the main focal point. I have added arrow shapes to allow the user to click to the next page and view more of my work.

This shows how I could display my about me information. I wanted a relaxed format to my entire website so the polaroid image is a fun way of introducing myself. The coloured text box is a little too much against the background.

Final Practice Site...

I altered the display of the navigation bar to have only four main pages and prioritise the 'home' and 'portfolio' pages. The difference between white and black shows what page the user is on or has their mouse hovering over. I also have a hover function over each of the images to give the user some information about the design.

This shows the new navigation bar on my portfolio site - there is a drop down menu when you hover over the portfolio button so for the user to reach this page they would have had to click on the 'editorial' button on the drop down menu.

I have toned down the colour of the text box but I definitely think I need to rethink the background colour as it is just too overpowering for the rest of the site.

Finally, here is the 'contact us' page. Giving the user the opportunity to correspond with me and get my contact details.
